State: RI    License: Real Estate Continuing Education Information: Rhode Island Real Estate Salespersons and Brokers are required to complete 24 hours of Continuing Education every two years (24 months) by April 30th of even years. 18 hours of electives and 6 hours of mandatory. Mandatory Courses: 6 hours must come from the following core courses: Law of Agency, Law of Contracts, Fair Housing, Lead Hazard Mitigation, RI License Law and Ethics. All licensees must take a lead poisoning/lead hazard mitigation course of not less than 3 hours. No Licensee is exempt from taking a lead hazard mitigation/lead paint course. Renewal application materials and renewal fees MUST be paid prior to the May 1, 2010 deadline however licensees now have until October 31, 2010 to complete the required number of credit hours for Real Estate Broker and Salesperson license renewals. Limitations: Effective 5/1/08: New Law of Agency must be taken in a classroom setting.
