Washington real estate agents must complete 30 hours of continuing education (CE) every two years to renew an active license, as required by the Washington State Department of Licensing (DOL).
CE must be completed every two years by the license renewal date. New licensees have specific education requirements during their first renewal period.
Yes, online CE courses are accepted in Washington, provided they are delivered by DOL-approved education providers. Online CE is a flexible, state-recognized method for satisfying license renewal requirements.
For each renewal, licensees must complete:
– 3 hours of the Washington Core Curriculum, covering legal updates and industry changes
– 27 hours of elective courses on approved topics such as ethics, fair housing, contracts, and risk management
First-time renewals also require a 30-hour Advanced Practices course and a 30-hour Real Estate Law course.
All CE must be completed by the license expiration date, which is two years after the licensee’s original issue date. CE must be completed and reported prior to submitting a renewal application.
