In this course, you will learn how to write a narrative appraisal report of an income producing property. It principally focuses on the development of a Self-Contained Appraisal Report, but the methods and techniques explained can be applied to writing a Summary Appraisal Report or to a Restricted Use Appraisal Report. The course provides instruction on how to write every section of a Self-Contained Appraisal Report from the title page through the final opinion of value and the addendum. It includes a case study that provides opportunities to write various sections of an appraisal report, as well as practice performing necessary comparative analysis and making calculations. In addition to the end-of-chapter quizzes and final exam, this course contains mini-quizzes that will test the knowledge of the material throughout each chapter. The mini-quizzes will help prepare you for not only the end-of-chapter quiz, but also for the cumulative final exam at the end of the course. There is a required three-hour exam at the end that must be taken in a proctored classroom setting.

  • Chapter 1 - Introduction to Narrative Appraisal Report Writing

This class is excellent! I would suggest making this your last class if you are doing an “upgrade package” of classes because this class is truly an outline of how to write a report with little to no instruction on the methodologies themselves…but that is what the other classes are for. This class was great and included a great deal of information and suggestions that are both practical and useful. There is also not a tone of condescension like you get with other professors.

Great course! Tons of material, very thorough. The quality and depth of the course was a very nice suprise; you definately get your moneys worth which will help in your real world practice. Also, you can’t beat the convenience of this online educational experience; you can move at your own speed and you’re not waiting around for other classmates who might be late arrivals. Also, you don’t get rushed through the material. You have enough time to go back and read through the material as many times as needed in order for you to get a grasp of the concepts and real world examples provided.

The course is a good course. I was very disappointed that there were so many misspelled words, very poor punctuation, the lack of which changed the meaning and reading of many questions. Several answers to the quiz questions were incorrect, based on the information provided within the course. I'm very concerned about how to answer these questions if they show up in the proctored test. Do I answer incorrectly and get the answer right, or do I answer the question correctly and get it wrong?

The course is well organized and developed. The interactive aspects of the case studies did not always work.

I found several misspelled words and confusing wording of questions but overall it was a good course.

Much of the later material was fill-in the blank and not very helpful. Much of it was a waste of time because you didn't actually learn any helpful hints about writing a report, it was pretty much just memorization of the material and fill in the blank. The 'case studies' could have been much, much better. The earlier portions of the course might be helpful to more inexperienced appraisers.
