Performing Divorce Appraisals
Due to a slowdown in mortgage volume, many real property appraisers are looking to replace lost income by performing appraisals for intended uses other than mortgage lending. Approximately 40% to 50% of all first marriages end in divorce, and the divorce rate is even higher for second and third marriages. Because real estate is the single largest source of wealth for most families, it only makes sense that divorcing spouses will disagree over the value of their property. This course will focus on scope of work considerations, reporting requirements, and testimony basics for these types of assignments.
