Pool, Spa, and Sauna Inspections

Even though pools, spas, and saunas are  common in residential properties, inspecting these components is usually optional. An inspector should not agree to inspect a pool, spa, or sauna unless he or she is trained to complete such an inspection and is familiar with the local code specifications that apply to any pool or spa, whether indoors or outside. Likewise, this should be specified in the contract with the client. 
However, there is one aspect of a pool installation that all inspectors should include in their home inspection. If the home being inspected has a pool, then the home inspector must examine the pool enclosure or barrier that prevents unauthorized entry into the pool area.
There are many elements to a pool inspection. Spas and saunas tend to be less complicated to inspect because of their smaller size.
