South Dakota requires Engineer Professionals to complete 30 professional development hours every 24 months. 

At least 20 PDH must be in technical areas which directly safeguard the public’s health, safety, and welfare

The remaining 10 PDH may be earned in professional management subjects, such as total quality process or ethics
