Explore the ethics of engineering and land surveying, including different aspects of the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) as well as the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) Code of Ethics. 

This course provides a brief overview of various alternative energy technologies. Topics covered include: Solar, wind, biological fuels, hydrokinetic and marine energy, as well as fuel cells, biohydrogen, coal gasification, and alternate nuclear technologies.

Many people rely on groundwater as their source for drinking water. A water well is the primary object used to access the groundwater. This course explains in detail the different types of wells used to obtain groundwater for drinking water; geothermal and fire protection wells are also discussed. We will cover well site selection, well head protection, types of wells and their construction, pumps, controls, and appurtenances associated with wells. The importance of groundwater yield and quality will also be explored.

Get a primer to concepts that can help building designers, owners, and state and local governments mitigate the threat of hazards resulting from terrorist attacks on new buildings. 

COURSE HIGHLIGHTS: 

• Examine four high-population, private-sector building types: commercial office; retail; multi-family residential; and light industrial 
• Study strategies to mitigate the effects of explosive attacks, chemical attacks, biological attacks, and radiological attacks

The purpose of this course is to present, review, discuss, and provide examples of evaluations performed in accordance with the appropriate standards and the standard of care for this type work. A working scenario will be presented. A cursory review of tools and techniques, including safety procedures, is included. The need for consistency is of utmost importance to provide a mutual and universal understanding among all evaluation participants and the users of the reports.
