Laws and Regulations Governing Florida Professional Engineers
Professional engineers in the state of Florida have a responsibility to complete 18 continuing education hours during each license renewal biennium as a condition of license renewal (61G15-22.001(1) F.A.C.). Within these 18 hours:
Four (4) hours must relate to the licensee’s area of practice.
One (1) hour must be related to professional ethics.
One (1) hour must relate to Chapter 471, F.S., and the rules of the Board.
The remaining hours may relate to any topic pertinent to the practice of engineering, as defined in Rule 61G15-22.002. F.A.C.
This course will satisfy the one (1) hour that must relate to Chapter 471. F.S. and the rules of the Board. It will also provide a brief summary of the legislative changes in the most recent legislative sessions that may affect the engineering profession in Florida.
Section I will provide Chapter 471: Engineering Statutes; Section II will provide information on the Florida Administrative Code. Because this is a one (1) hour course, these regulatory documents will not be provided in their entirety, but a robust sampling of critical sections is provided.?
