How to Renew Your Idaho Appraisal License 

Here’s an overview of the steps to renew your Idaho appraisal license. The following information is based on the minimum requirements set forth by the Idaho Real Estate Appraiser Board.  

Step 1: Know Your Renewal Deadlines  

Effective July 1, 2025: License renewals will begin transitioning from an annual due date to a biennial due date. CLICK HERE for additional details about the transition provided on the board’s website. 

  • Born in an odd year? Starting July 1, 2025, when you renew, your license will be valid for 2 years.
  • Born in an even year? Your 2025 licensure renewal will be valid for 1 year, and starting in 2026, you’ll move to a 2-year renewal cycle.
  • Appraisal Management Company and Trainee Registration will not be moving to a 2-year cycle at this time.

Step 2: Complete CE Requirements  

Idaho real estate appraisers must complete 28 hours of Board-approved continuing education every 2 years, including:

Apply for license renewal using the Idaho Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses (DOPL) online licensing portal. You will need to pay a renewal fee.  

Please note the Board will conduct random audits to ensure compliance with the CE requirements. Be sure to maintain documentary proof of CE course completion. 

Important: Verify all CE requirements with the Idaho Real Estate Appraiser Board. If you hold appraisal licenses in multiple states, please check each state’s requirements. 


Idaho License Renewal (28 hours) – State CE Requirements

Idaho Appraisers are required to take 28 hours of continuing education every 24 months including the the 7-hr USPAP course & effective 1/1/26 a mandatory Valuation Bias & Fair Housing course. 

Effective 1/1/2026 
To comply with the 2026 Criteria appraisers will be required to complete a course that meets the content requirements of the Valuation Bias & Fair Housing Laws and Regulations Outline, every two calendar years.

  • The first time an appraiser completes the continuing education requirement for this course, the course length must be seven (7) hours. If an appraiser successfully completed a seven (7) hour (plus 1 hour exam) course as part of their qualifying education, they have met this requirement.
  • Every two calendar years thereafter, the course length must be at least four (4) hours.
