How to Renew Your Kansas Appraisal License

Here are the general steps needed to renew your Kansas appraisal license. The following information is based on the minimum requirements set forth by the Kansas Real Estate Appraisal Board (KREAB).

Step 1: Know Your Renewal Deadlines

In Kansas, real estate appraisers must renew their licenses annually by June 30. Continuing education is due once every 2 years during the odd-numbered years.

Generally, the education cycle will run from July 1 of each odd year through May 31 of the following odd year.

Step 2: Complete CE Requirements

Kansas real estate appraisers must complete 28 hours of state-approved continuing education every 2 years, including:

Attention new licensees: If your license has been active for 1 year or more, you must complete 28 hours of CE for that renewal cycle. If your license has been active for more than 184 days but less than 1 year, you must complete 14 hours of CE for that cycle, including the most recent 7-hour USPAP Update. If your license has been active for 184 days or less, you are not required to complete any CE for that renewal cycle.

Please note: The 15-hour USPAP course cannot be used to fulfill the 7-hour USPAP Update course.

Step 3: Apply for Renewal

You can apply for license renewal using KREAB’s online licensing portal. You will need to provide CE course certificates as proof of completion. Fees may apply.

Important: Verify all CE requirements with the Kansas Real Estate Appraisal Board (KREAB). If you hold appraisal licenses in multiple states, be sure to check each state’s requirements.
