Michigan Appraisal License Renewal
How to Renew Your Michigan Appraisal License
Here are the general steps to renew your Michigan appraisal license. The following information is based on the minimum requirements set forth by the Michigan State Board of Real Estate Appraisers.
Step 1: Know Your Renewal Deadlines
In the state of Michigan, appraisers must renew their licenses every 2 years. Licenses expire on July 31 every 2 years from the initial date of issuance. Check the expiration date printed on your license to confirm.
You may renew as early as 90 days before the expiration date. Renewal notices will be sent out by the Board via email and postal mail to your address on record.
Step 2: Complete CE Requirements
Michigan real estate appraisers are required to complete 28 hours of Board-approved continuing education every 2 years, including:
- 7-Hour National USPAP Update Course
- Valuation Bias & Fair Housing CE Course
- State-approved CE course electives
Please note for partial-year renewals: For CE cycle periods of 185 days or more, 14 hours of continuing education is required. For CE cycle periods of less than 185 days, no continuing education is required.
Step 3: Apply for Renewal
You are required to renew your license by using Michigan’s MIPLUS online licensing portal. You do not need to submit CE course completion certificates with your application, but you must retain proof of CE course completion in case of an audit. Fees may apply.
Important: Verify all CE requirements with the Michigan State Board of Real Estate Appraisers. If you hold appraisal licenses in multiple states, be sure to check each state’s requirements.

Roster
Effective 3/29/2023 – Rosters are submitted for licensed students to CE Broker (Michigan’s official CE tracking system) each business day. Unlicensed students – rosters will be emailed to the board.
Students no longer need their education posted to their account to renew. For their renewal they will be asked to check an attestation box, if they have completed their education. Please refer them to their renewal section with the state.
Anyone who completed education prior to 3/29/2023 may self report their own education to CE Broker if they would like it to show on their CE Broker account. If a student is audited or have to do a re-licensure, they will need to provide their certificates upon request of the board.
