How to Renew Your US Virgin Islands Appraisal License 

Follow these steps to renew your appraisal license in the US Virgin Islands. The following information is based on the minimum requirements set forth by the US Virgin Islands Real Estate Appraisal Board. 

Step 1: Know Your Renewal Deadlines  

US Virgin Islands real estate appraisers must renew their licenses every year by December 31. Check the expiration date printed on your license to confirm. 

Step 2: Complete CE Requirements  

In the US Virgin Islands, real estate appraisers are required to complete 14 hours of Board-approved continuing education every year, including:

Step 3: Apply for Renewal  

Apply for license renewal using the US Virgin Islands Department of Licensing and Consumer Affairs (DLCA) online licensing portal. You will need to pay a renewal fee. You may need to submit CE course completion certificates.

US Virgin Islands License Renewal (14 hours) – CE Requirements

Virgin Island Appraisers are required to complete 14 continuing education hours every 12 months. Seven (7) hours of National USPAP Update or Equivalent must be taken every two years.

Effective 1/1/2026
To comply with the 2026 Criteria appraisers will be required to complete a course that meets the content requirements of the Valuation Bias & Fair Housing Laws and Regulations Outline, every two calendar years.

  • The first time an appraiser completes the continuing education requirement for this course, the course length must be seven (7) hours. If an appraiser successfully completed a seven (7) hour (plus 1 hour exam) course as part of their qualifying education, they have met this requirement.
  • Every two calendar years thereafter, the course length must be at least four (4) hours

State implementation timelines and regulatory updates may vary. Students should contact their regulatory board directly to confirm that the course is required or if they have questions.
