How to Renew Your Arizona Trainee Appraiser Registration
Here are the basic renewal steps for Arizona Registered Trainee Appraisers. This information is based on the minimum requirements set forth by the Arizona Department of Insurance and Financial Institutions (DIFI).
Step 1: Know Your Renewal Deadlines
If you are a Registered Trainee in Arizona, you will need to renew your license (or registration) every 3 years. Check the expiration date printed on your license to verify your renewal deadline.
Renewal applications will be accepted within 90 days before or up to 90 days after your license expiration date. If you apply after the expiration date, a late fee will be assessed.
Step 2: Complete CE Requirements
Arizona Registered Trainees must complete 42 hours of approved continuing education every 3 years, including:
- 7-Hour National USPAP Update Course
- Valuation Bias & Fair Housing CE Course
- State-approved CE course electives
Please note: Arizona licensees cannot receive credit for more than 8 hours of CE in any 24-hour period.
Step 3: Apply for Renewal
Apply for renewal online using the Arizona DIFI’s online licensing portal. You must submit a renewal fee, CE course completion certificates, evidence of background check, and proof of U.S. Citizenship, U.S. National Status, or Alien Status with your application. A late fee may apply.
Important: Verify all CE requirements with the Arizona Department of Insurance and Financial Institutions (DIFI). If you hold appraisal licenses in multiple states, please be sure to check each state’s requirements.
Arizona Trainee Registration Renewal (42 hours) – State CE Requirements

Arizona Trainee Appraisers are required to take 42 continuing education hours every 36 months including a 7-hour USPAP Update course.
Effective 1/1/2026
To comply with the 2026 Criteria appraisers will be required to complete a course that meets the content requirements of the Valuation Bias & Fair Housing Laws and Regulations Outline, every two calendar years.
- The first time an appraiser completes the continuing education requirement for this course, the course length must be seven (7) hours. If an appraiser successfully completed a seven (7) hour (plus 1 hour exam) course as part of their qualifying education, they have met this requirement.
- Every two calendar years thereafter, the course length must be at least four (4) hours.
Online Limitations
An AZ licensee cannot receive credit for more than 8 hours of CE in any 24 hour period.
