How to Renew Your Connecticut Provisional Appraiser License 

Here’s a basic overview of the renewal steps for Connecticut Provisional Appraisers. This information is based on the minimum requirements set forth by the Connecticut Real Estate Appraisers Commission. 

Step 1: Know Your Renewal Deadlines  

Connecticut appraiser licenses expire annually on April 30. You will receive a renewal notice via email or regular mail about 30–45 days before your license expiration date. 

Continuing education is due every 2 years on the even-numbered year. You must complete all CE by January 31 of even-numbered years (90 days before your license expires).  

Step 2: Fulfill CE Requirements  

Connecticut Provisional Appraisers are required to complete 28 hours of state-approved continuing education every 2 years, including: 

Please note: Provisional Appraisers are required to complete at least one pre-licensing course each continuing education cycle. The Connecticut appraisal pre-licensing course will count toward your required elective CE hours. 

Step 3: Apply for Renewal  

You can renew your license online using the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection’s eLicense portal. You will be required to pay a renewal fee. 

Be sure to upload all CE course certificates to your eLicense account by January 31 of every even-numbered year to avoid possible penalties.

Connecticut Provisional Appraiser Renewal (28 hours) – State CE

Education is due January 31st of even years. 

Licenses are renewed yearly by 4/30, however CE is not due until 1/31 of even years. Connecticut requires all licensees to complete all continuing education 90 days prior to license expiration.

Connecticut Appraisers are required to obtain 28 continuing education hours every two years; including 10 hours in mandatory topics. Mandatory hours include 7 hours of the National USPAP Update course or Equivalent and 3 hours of the Connecticut Real Estate Appraisal Law Update. Provisional Appraisers are required to complete at least one pre-licensing course each continuing education cycle. The pre-licensing course will also count as part of your required elective continuing education hours. 

Effective 1/1/2026
To comply with the 2026 Criteria appraisers will be required to complete a course that meets the content requirements of the Valuation Bias & Fair Housing Laws and Regulations Outline, every two calendar years.

  • The first time an appraiser completes the continuing education requirement for this course, the course length must be seven (7) hours. If an appraiser successfully completed a seven (7) hour (plus 1 hour exam) course as part of their qualifying education, they have met this requirement.
  • Every two calendar years thereafter, the course length must be at least four (4) hours.

Licenses are renewed yearly by 4/30, however CE is not due until 1/31 of even years.

Effective 1/1/2026
All continuing education (CE) must be completed between February 1, 2024 and January 31, 2026.  The 28-hour CE requirement for the 2024-2026 renewal period must include the following mandatory courses:

  • 3-hour Connecticut Appraisal Law (including supervisory/provisional education),
  • 7-hour National USPAP Update, and
  • 7-hour National Valuation Bias and Fair Housing VB-FH
    • Note: The VB-FH course is a new national requirement and should not be confused with other courses of similar titles.

Additionally, licensees must complete 11 hours of elective CE courses to fulfill the 28-hour total requirement. CE certificates should be uploaded to your eLicense account as you complete each course. Be sure to upload all certificates by January 31, 2026, to avoid potential penalties.

Important: CE courses used to satisfy requirements for a previous cycle cannot be reused for compliance with the 2026 CE requirements
