Associate Brokers
To renew an active license, New Mexico real estate associate brokers must complete 36 hours of continuing education every three years. This requirement includes:
12 hours of the NMREC Core Course (4 hours annually for 3 years)
4 hours of an ethics elective
4 hours of a core elective
16 elective hours in any commission-approved course
Qualifying Brokers
To renew a qualifying broker license, the total CE requirement is 42 hours every three years, broken down as follows:
• 12 hours of the NMREC Core Course (4 hours annually for 3 years)
• 4 hours of an ethics elective
• 8 hours of a core elective
• 12 elective hours in any commission-approved course
• 6 hours of the Qualifying Broker Refresher Course
In addition, all active qualifying brokers must:
• Attend a Commission meeting or an NMREC Disciplinary Hearing as part of the renewal process.
Online Limitations
• The 4-hour NMREC Core Course and the 6-hour Qualifying Broker Refresher Course cannot be completed online; they must be taken in person.
• All other courses may be completed online.
