How to Renew Your Utah Appraisal License 

Here are the general steps to renew your Utah appraisal license. The following information is based on the minimum requirements set forth by the Utah Real Estate Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board. 

Step 1: Know Your Renewal Deadlines  

In the state of Utah, appraisal licenses expire every 2 years. Please check the expiration date printed on your license. Your renewal period begins 90 days before the last day of the month in which your license expires. 

Please note: To renew on time, you must complete your CE hours by the 15th day of the month during which your registration, license, or certification expires.

Utah real estate appraisers must complete 28 hours of state-approved continuing education every 2 years, including:

Apply for license renewal using the Utah Division of Real Estate’s online licensing portal. You must pay a renewal fee, and you may need to provide proof of CE course completion. 

Important: Verify all CE requirements with the Utah Real Estate Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board. If you hold appraisal licenses in multiple states, please check each state’s requirements. 


Utah License Renewal (28 hours) – State CE Requirements

Utah Appraisers are required to complete 28 continuing education hours every 24 months. Seven (7) hours must be the National USPAP Update course or Equivalent. In order to renew on time, an applicant shall complete continuing education hours by the 15th day of the month in which the registration, license, or certification expires.

Effective 1/1/2026
To comply with the 2026 Criteria appraisers will be required to complete a course that meets the content requirements of the Valuation Bias & Fair Housing Laws and Regulations Outline, every two calendar years.

  • The first time an appraiser completes the continuing education requirement for this course, the course length must be seven (7) hours. If an appraiser successfully completed a seven (7) hour (plus 1 hour exam) course as part of their qualifying education, they have met this requirement.
  • Every two calendar years thereafter, the course length must be at least four (4) hours
