How to Renew Your Florida Appraisal License

Here’s an overview of the steps to renew your Florida appraisal license. The following information is based on the minimum requirements set forth by the Florida Real Estate Appraisal Board.

Step 1: Know Your Renewal Deadlines

Florida real estate appraisers must renew their licenses every 2 years. Licenses expire on November 30 of even-numbered years. Please check the expiration date printed on your license to confirm.

Step 2: Complete CE Requirements

Florida real estate appraisers must complete 30 hours of Board-approved continuing education every 2 years, including:

Each course requires a final exam. You are allowed two attempts to pass the final exam. If both attempts are unsuccessful, the course must be retaken. Exception: The USPAP course allows three attempts before requiring a retake. Due to this exam requirement, Florida credit cannot be granted for any course that was completed for credit in another state.

Attention initial licensees: If your registration, license, or certification was issued less than 6 months prior to November 30, you do not need to complete any CE for renewal.

Step 3: Apply for Renewal

Apply to renew your license using the Florida DBPR’s online licensing portal. You will need to pay a renewal fee and provide proof of CE course completion.

Important: Verify all CE requirements with the Florida Real Estate Appraisal Board. If you hold appraisal licenses in multiple states, please be sure to check the requirements in each state.
