What are Michigan’s real estate CE requirements?

The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) requires real estate agents to complete 18 hours of continuing education (CE) every three-year license cycle. Licensees are required to complete 2 hours of legal education and 1 hour of Fair Housing courses each year of a license cycle. The license expiration date is based on the original license issue date. McKissock’s courses are fully aligned with all LARA standards to ensure your compliance. 

What topics are covered in Michigan CE?

Our LARA-approved courses cover all mandatory and elective topics to help you stay current. Courses are updated annually and include subjects like:

How do I renew my Michigan real estate license?

Renewal is straightforward when you follow LARA’s rolling-date rules and use McKissock’s online real estate courses for Michigan: finish 18 total hours in every three-year cycle, but make sure you hit the three mandatory hours every single license year—two hours of Legal Updates plus one hour of Fair Housing. That annual trio is time-stamped to your personal license-expiration date (the month and day your license was first issued).  
The other nine elective hours can be taken whenever you like within the cycle, provided you do not repeat a course. Once you complete a McKissock class it is reported automatically through CE Marketplace, so your MiPLUS record updates without any extra steps on your part. 

Can I complete Michigan CE courses online?

Yes. McKissock offers flexible and convenient online real estate courses for Michigan that are fully approved by LARA. You can complete your entire 18-hour requirement from anywhere, at your own pace. 

When is the CE completion deadline?

Every licensee must finish and report the year’s CE—two hours of Legal Updates, one hour of Fair Housing, plus any electives—before the calendar day the individual license expires (the month and day shown on your pocket card). Make sure the credits are posted in CE Marketplace and visible in MiPLUS ahead of that date so renewal is painless and audit-proof. 

Does McKissock report my CE to LARA automatically?

Yes. As a LARA-approved provider, McKissock automatically reports your completed CE hours to the state, making your license renewal process simpler and more convenient.
