Michigan Real Estate Education Requirements

The information below is a summary of the minimum requirements set forth by the Michigan State Board of Real Estate Brokers & Salespersons. For a more detailed requirements breakdown, please see the board's site.

Online Info

Michigan Real Estate licensees are required to take 18 hours of continuing education every 3 years.  Licensees are required to complete 2 hours of legal education, and 1 hour of Fair Housing courses in each year of a license cycle. License expiration date is based on original license issue date.

*Effective 2/13/2024 real estate professionals are required to complete  1 hour of Fair Housing each year of a license cycle.  
 
A student enrollment agreement is required upon completion of all courses (except non-credit courses).  This enrollment agreement can be found in the documents section of each course. Online Limitations

There is no limit to the number of CE hours that may be taken online. 

Licensees can NOT receive credit for a class twice in the same renewal cycle (3 year period), however they can in consecutive cycles.

Starting 12/2018, courses are approved through CEMarketplace. Rosters are sent electronically each business day. Completions are to be uploaded no later than 10 business days from the completion date of the course.
