Sellers (lenders) that obtain an approved exception may continue submitting legacy UAD 2.6 appraisal reports through May 19, 2027, while working toward full UAD 3.6 implementation.
The announcement emphasizes that all industry participants should continue executing their UAD 3.6 transition plans and move to the new reporting standard as quickly as possible because the exception will not be extended.
Beginning March 1, 2027, UAD 2.6 submissions made under an exception will be subject to reduced functionality, and mandatory use of UAD 3.6 begins May 20, 2027.

Although the GSEs have announced a temporary policy exception for certain Sellers (lenders), appraisers should continue learning UAD 3.6 and preparing for the mandatory November 2, 2026 implementation date. The mandate remains in place.
During the period of November 2, 2026, through May 19, 2027, appraisers may receive both UAD 3.6 assignments and legacy UAD 2.6 assignments from clients or lenders depending on if they applied for a GSE-approved exception. We recommend that you confirm the client/lender’s UAD requirements before accepting or completing an assignment.
Appraisers should be prepared to work in both formats temporarily, while building proficiency in UAD 3.6 as the industry moves toward the new long-term standard.
