How to Renew Your Indiana Appraisal License

Here’s an overview of the steps to renew your Indiana appraisal license. The following information is based on the minimum requirements set forth by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency.

Step 1: Know Your Renewal Deadlines
In Indiana, an appraisal license is valid through September 30 of even-numbered years. Check the expiration date printed on your license to verify.

Step 2: Complete CE Requirements
Indiana real estate appraisers must take 28 hours of state-approved continuing education every 2 years, including:

Please note: You must complete the USPAP course no later than 6 months after the effective date of the newest version.

Attention initial licensees: If your initial license was issued within the last 185 days of a 2-year renewal period, you do not need to obtain any hours of continuing education.

Step 3: Apply for Renewal
You should receive a renewal notice via email about 90 days before your license expiration date. If you do not have a valid email address on file, your license renewal information will be sent in the mail.

You can apply for license renewal online using the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency’s online licensing portal. You will need to pay a renewal fee and provide proof of CE course completion.

Important: Verify all CE requirements with the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency. If you hold appraisal licenses in multiple states, please be sure to check each state’s requirements.
