How to Renew Your New Mexico Appraisal License
Here are the basic steps to renew your New Mexico appraisal license. The following information is based on the minimum requirements set forth by the New Mexico Real Estate Appraisers Board.
Step 1: Know Your Renewal Deadlines
In New Mexico, an initial appraisal license is valid through April 30 of the second year of licensure. Real estate appraisers must renew their licenses every 2 years thereafter by the deadline of April 30. Check the expiration date printed on your license to confirm.
Step 2: Complete CE Requirements
New Mexico real estate appraisers must complete 28 hours of Board-approved continuing education every 2 years, including:
- 7-Hour National USPAP Update Course
- Valuation Bias & Fair Housing CE Course
- Board-approved CE course electives
Please note: For CE cycle periods of 185 to 365 days, 14 hours of continuing education is required. For CE cycle periods less than 185 days, no continuing education is required.
Step 3: Apply for Renewal
Apply for license renewal using the NM-PLUS online licensing portal. You will need to pay a renewal fee. Proof of CE course completion may be required.
Important: Verify all CE requirements with the New Mexico Real Estate Appraisers Board. If you hold appraisal licenses in more than one state, be sure to check each state’s requirements.
