How to Renew Your Pennsylvania Appraisal License
Below are the general steps to renew your Pennsylvania appraisal license. The following information is based on the minimum requirements set forth by the Pennsylvania State Board of Certified Real Estate Appraisers.
Step 1: Know Your Renewal Deadlines
In Pennsylvania, appraiser licenses expire on June 30 of every odd-numbered year. You will receive a renewal notice via email 30–45 days before your license expiration date.
To help ensure the timely receipt of your renewal notice and your updated license, please log in to your PALS account and verify that your email address and mailing address are both current and correct.
Step 2: Complete CE Requirements
Pennsylvania real estate appraisers are required to complete 28 hours of Board-approved continuing education every 2 years, including:
- 7-Hour National USPAP Update Course
- 2-Hour Pennsylvania Law/Act Course
- Valuation Bias & Fair Housing CE Course
- Board-approved CE course electives
Step 3: Apply for Renewal
Apply for license renewal online using the Pennsylvania Licensing System (PALS). You will be required to upload your CE course certificates and pay a renewal fee.
Important: Verify all CE requirements with the Pennsylvania State Board of Certified Real Estate Appraisers. If you hold appraisal licenses in multiple states, please check each state’s requirements.
