Introduction to Condemnation Appraisals with Case Studies

This course takes you inside one of appraisal's most complex specialties, where the assignment involves constitutional principles, legal precedents, and real people facing life-changing decisions.  

We'll start by building your foundation with the essential vocabulary and concepts that define this specialized field. Then we'll dive into the historical and legal roots of eminent domain, exploring how this governmental power evolved over time.  

Then we will then look at some specific, well-known projects where the power of eminent domain was exercised including the Blue Ridge Parkway, Hoover Dam, and the Interstate Highway System.    

You'll understand how your work directly supports the Fifth Amendment's requirement that property owners receive "just compensation." Condemnation appraisals aren't routine valuations—they present unique challenges which we’ll cover through detailed case studies and real-world examples.  

By course completion, you'll have the knowledge foundation and problem identification skills to understand the complexities of condemnation work—and when additional training is essential before accepting such assignments.?
