The History of the ALTA/NSPS Land Survey Title

The ALTA/NSPS [formerly ALTA/ACSM] Land Title Survey (ALTA Survey) has always been considered the gold standard in surveying by lenders, title companies and surveyors. The ALTA Survey standards consist of a ‘Minimum Standard Detail Requirement’ and a ‘Table A’ checklist of required and optional items. In this course we will take a comprehensive look at the history of the ALTA survey, the changes that have been made to the standards over the years and how they affected the surveyor’s finished product. The current standards will be discussed with particular attention to the latest Table A items, including an example survey. Finally, we will examine a survey and determine if it meets the standards under which it was prepared.
