Learn what's required for your Real Estate License in Hawaii

This real estate licensing information summarizes the minimum requirements established by the Hawaii Real Estate Commission. We recommend you contact the Hawaii Real Estate Commission for more detailed information or changes.

If you obtain real estate licenses in multiple states, we recommend you check each state's requirements.

Hawaii Real Estate License: All

Licensees are required to complete 20 hours of approved continuing education courses for each two-year license period. The required continuing education hours include 6 hours for the commission designated core course, 14 hours of elective credit hours.

To Reactivate a License Before the End of the Current Biennium:

Reactivation of a license is a lengthy process. A licensee who intends to reactivate a license before the end of the current biennium, shall inform the continuing education provider of their intent prior to the class. This will ensure that the licensee receives the correct course completion certificates.

To reactivate a license before the end of the biennium, a licensee must first satisfy the prescribed continuing education hours of one prior renewal period. Licensees who wish to reactivate a license need at least 20 credit hours of continuing education (core course + elective courses). The previous biennium’s core course is available through May 31 of odd-numbered years. After May 31, licensees who have not completed the biennium’s core course(s) shall complete 20 hours of continuing education elective courses.

No Final Exam Passing Requirement

Licensees are advised to check the Hawaii Real Estate Board website and view the courses they have completed before enrolling.

Roster

Roster Required: yes
Roster Process:

Rosters are submitted electronically every Wednesday.
McKissock will submit the rosters to the state.  Once we have submitted the rosters to the state, we will send the student an email containing a link to where they can go to the State’s site to print their certificate.
If for some reason the student doesn’t get the email, they can go to https://pvl.ehawaii.gov/rece/app/welcome.html and download another copy of their certificate.

During high volume periods, such as near renewal deadlines, rosters will be submitted daily. **If you need or want the roster submitted earlier than the scheduled date, there is a $10 rush fee for that service.**

If you are taking CE to re-activate your license and need make-up credit, please call our customer service department at 800-328-2008 to request that your account be marked as such so the rosters are submitted correctly.
