Louisiana Real Estate Education Requirements

The information below is a summary of the minimum requirements set forth by the Louisiana Real Estate Commission. For a more detailed requirements breakdown, please see the board's site.

Renewal Date: September 30th annually.

•Effective April 1, 2022, Act 193 of the 2021 Regular Legislative Session became law. Accordingly, the 2022 license renewal period for 2023 licenses is changing

Continuing Education Date: December 31st annually.

Hours Required by Louisiana Real Estate Commission: 12 hours

•4 mandatory hours

•8 elective hours

The  renewal period for licenses is as follows:
Timely Renewal Period: August 1st – September 30th
First Delinquent Renewal Period: October 1st – November 15th 
    o($50 delinquent fee for active and inactive licensees)
Second Delinquent Renewal Period: November 16th – December 31st
    o($50 delinquent fee for inactive licensees; $200 delinquent fee for active licensees)

Post-License Education Requirement: All initial licensees are required to complete 45 post-license education hours within 180 days after the initial license date. Post-license education hours may be used to satisfy eight of the 12-hour annual continuing education requirement; however, post-license education hours will not satisfy the four-hour mandatory continuing education topic specified by the commission. McKissock does not currently offer post-licensing education.

Course Completion Reporting to LREC: Real estate continuing education course completions are reported to the Louisiana Real Estate Commission each Tuesday. Please see below for further details

Expiration Date of Course: Course expiration dates vary but are generally 6 months after enrollment date.

Certificate: With few exceptions, online course completion certificates are available for download at course conclusion and posted directly to your student dashboard.
 

Online Limitations

There is no limit to the number of CE hours that may be taken online.

Roster Process:

Rosters are sent electronically each business day.

LREC education records are not obtained from the course completion certificates issued to licensees by education providers but rather from course completion reports submitted to the LREC by those providers. Licensees need not send those certificates unless the LREC requests them. Rosters must be submitted by the 15th of the following after course completion. 

Rosters must be submitted with in 10 days of course completion, NO EXCEPTIONS

LA Pre - Rosters are now to be sent Monthly. They want each month of completions on one roster. Will be sent first business day for previous month.

Post Licensing: All broker and salespeople must complete 45 hours of post-license education within 180 days after their initial license date for their first renewal cycle. 

McKissock does not currently offer the post-licensing courses.
