West Virginia Real Estate Education Requirements

The information below is a summary of the minimum requirements set forth by the West Virginia Real Estate Commission. For a more detailed requirements breakdown, please see the board's site.

Online Info

Continuing Education and Renewal Date: June 30th every year.   

Hours Required by West Virginia Real Estate Commission: Four (4) elective hours and three (3) mandatory hours from the broker-level curriculum.
 

Duplicate Courses: Licensees are not permitted to repeat a course (same title and content) for two (2) consecutive renewal periods (equal to two (2) years). 

Final Exam: The West Virginia Real Estate Commission permits only two attempts to pass the course final examination with a minimum score of 70%. If the exam is failed on the second attempt, the licensee must repurchase and retake the entire course, including the exam. The course final examination must be successfully passed to receive credit.      

Certificate: With few exceptions, online course completion certificates are available for download at course conclusion and posted directly to your student dashboard. 

Expiration Date of Course: Course expiration dates vary but are generally 6 months after enrollment date.

Online Limitations

There is no limit to the number of CE hours that may be completed online.

Rosters are submitted for licensed students to CE Broker (West Virginia's official CE tracking system) each business day. 

If you hold more than 1 Real Estate License in West Virginia, please call customer service at 877-277-5376 to request that the credit be applied  to all licenses. 

Annually, each approved provider shall supply the Commission -- no later than July 15 of the succeeding fiscal year -- with a comprehensive list of all students who have completed a course in continuing education at their institution during the fiscal year July 1 through June 30.
