This is the distance education version of the 2024 15-Hour National Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) Course by The Appraisal Foundation (TAF). This course focuses on the requirements for ethical behavior and competent performance by appraisers that are set forth in the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP). This course is unique in that it is developed by The Appraisal Foundation and is revised on a periodic basis to stay current with the latest edition of USPAP.  

Each student will be provided a PDF that combines the 2024 USPAP publication and the 2024 USPAP Guidance and Reference Manual (including Advisory Opinions and USPAP Frequently Asked Questions), which provides the framework for the course and is referred to throughout the course. The primary objective is that participants become familiar with the USPAP publication. The course material emphasizes the role of the appraiser and the impartiality associated with this role. Special responsibilities of the appraiser regarding impartiality are explored in detail. The course utilizes readings, exercises, video interviews, case studies, poll questions, and pre- and post-course testing. The goal is to present the material in multiple ways to ensure participant mastery of and fluency in the material. The course includes real-life case study problems (“Discussion Examples”) that show how USPAP applies in situations that appraisers encounter in everyday practice. These examples address issues frequently experienced by appraisers as professionals in the appraisal of real property, personal property, and business or intangible assets, and in appraisal review. This course is designed to aid appraisers seeking competency in USPAP, in all areas of appraisal practice including those subject to state licensing or certification and continuing education requirements imposed by professional organizations, client groups, or employers.  

This course provides at least 15 hours (50 minutes per hour) of instruction in USPAP that allows for a one-hour exam period within the 15-hour time frame. Course participants will have access to a searchable PDF version of the 2024 Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice for this class. 

Course access is available for 6 months from the day it is opened. All courses, regardless of whether they have been opened, expire two years from the date of purchase. Extensions are available for purchase within 30 days of a course expiring. No extensions will be granted after this period.

This 2024-2025 7-Hour National USPAP Update Course, titled Ethics, Standards, and Your Appraisal Practice, is developed by The Appraisal Foundation and must be completed by appraisers every 2 years to meet the USPAP continuing education requirement. It is revised on a biennial basis – for information visit The Appraisal Foundation’s FAQ.  This course is designed to assist appraisers in all areas of appraisal practice seeking USPAP competency, including those who are subject to state licensing or certification and continuing education requirements of professional organizations, client groups, or employers.

In this course, we will cover:   
•    recent USPAP requirement changes  
•    how the USPAP publication can be used to solve appraisal issues impacting your daily practices  
•    case studies that demonstrate how USPAP applies in situations that appraisers may encounter

As part of the course, students will receive a downloadable electronic copy of the 2024 USPAP publication, which also includes the USPAP Guidance and Reference Manual. The Guidance and Reference Manual is a new publication that includes the USPAP Advisory Opinions, USPAP Frequently Asked Questions, and a Reference Index. This publication is intended for students to use in the course and retain as a permanent reference source. Also, for convenience, hyperlinks to specific sections of the USPAP publication are included at various points throughout the course.  
 

The Appraisal Foundation requires us to provide you with a digital copy of the combined 2024 USPAP Publication and USPAP Guidance and Reference Manual to receive credit for class. The TAF fee for this book is $100.00, which is included in the course price.
