- Confidential emails are sent using encryption for your protection. When you receive an encrypted email, it will look something like this:
- You can save the attachment (message.html) and open it with your browser.
- Many browsers (including Google Chrome) will automatically open the attachment if you double-click on it.
- You should see the following when you open the file “message.html”. Click the link at the bottom of the page to get a one-time passcode to decrypt the message.
- A new web page will open to confirm that a one-time passcode has been sent to your email. DO NOT close this page.
- Go to your email and check for the message containing the one-time code. The email message containing the one-time passcode should look like this (see below). You can copy the passcode (or write it down). Keep in mind, this passcode is only valid for 15 minutes.
- Return to the previous web page and enter this one-time passcode.
- A new web page should now open which contains the decrypted email along with any attachments. You can read the message and save or open any attachments.
